Dear Friends,
Happy New Year! We hope you’ve had a safe and cozy holiday season and that 2022 is off to a good start for you.
2021 Recap
2021 was a big year for us here at Inclusive Future Magazine. In the spring, several years of planning and behind-the-scenes work culminated in our first Kickstarter campaign. In the summer and early fall, we read through dozens of fantastic submissions from our very first submission period. And in November and December we published our first four pieces!
We are so proud to have brought you...
All four pieces are wonderfully different, and all of them exactly the kinds of work we were hoping to see. If you haven’t yet read these visionary works of fiction, what are you waiting for? You can read them here. ;*)
Last but not least, we launched our Ko-fi account so that we could raise more funds to pay for publishing even more pieces on our website in the future.
The year to come
Inclusive Future Magazine is going to hibernate for 2022. As you may know, there are just three of us who have been working on this for the last several years, and we all have some very big life changes coming up in 2022. While we are sad to put this on the back burner for a year, we just won’t have the energy to open submissions or fundraise in the year ahead. We believe it’s healthiest for us and for the project to let it rest in 2022 so that we can return in 2023 with refreshed energy and ideas.
That said, we plan to continue meeting quarterly in 2022 to stay connected to the project, and we’ll continue refining the website and building our social media presence as our capacities allow. And we remain passionate about this project and cognizant of our responsibility to those who have supported it. The Ko-fi donations we’ve received so far will be held in reserve to buy new work in 2023. As promised, those funds will only be used to pay for new work.
To everyone who supported us in 2021 by submitting work, pledging to our Kickstarter, reaching out to us with words of support and encouragement, making a Ko-fi donation, visiting our site and/or helping us spread the word about Inclusive Future Magazine, we are so, so grateful for you. Thank you.
Our best wishes for a 2022 filled with bountiful sources of comfort and delight, both familiar and new, and we look forward to opening submissions again in 2023!
